Our Campus

After outgrowing the Bell Road campus, a search committee was created to find a new location.  After looking at over 50 properties, the committe settled on the uniqueness of the Baker farm.  The Closing Ceremony for the acquisition of the Baker farm took place on May 24, 1999 in front of the Baker home. The ceremony included signing of the documents, delivery of the title from Mr. Monty Baker to Mr. Scott Carter, Mr. Joel Belz sharing a brief history of the property and the presentation of an anonymous $2 million check. It concluded with the hymn of dedication, “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” The official Groundbreaking ceremony was held on Saturday, May 20, 2000 followed by a picnic on the grounds. Construction began soon after.  During the summer of 2003, ACA moved to the new campus with three buildings totaling 180,000 square feet.

Front Entrance

Asheville Christian Academy's front circle and entry is our doorway to the world. The orientation of the three buildings is east to west, with a spacious parking lot in front of the middle building. The flag pole, where fifth graders carefully hoist Old Glory on a daily basis, is at the center. On either side is a one-way traffic circle for pick up and drop off of students. The main entrance reminds students, families, and visitors of our name and mission, and makes good use of stone and glass in an impressive, yet warm, pathway into ACA.

Patio

The space behind the middle building, bounded on either end by trees and the upper and lower school buildings, provides a developing area for light recreation, outdoor events, and mountain beauty. On one end is an outdoor chess board and poles for hammocks. Toward the middle is a gaga pit. The hard surface is used for outdoor eating, including Homecoming BBQ and live music, with the biggest space a green lawn for touch football and an occasional festive tent.

Gymnasium

The ACA indoor athletic facility features three full courts for volleyball and basketball practice that convert to a competition floor. Multiple events can take place at the same time thanks to dividers that drop into place between courts. The strength and conditioning room is adjacent to the gymnasium. Other athletic amenities include coach’s offices and a team meeting and video room, space dedicated to team and coach meetings.
